About Us

Kona Village Resort, once an ancient fishing village.

The Big Island is the largest of the Hawaiian Islands and is an amazing experience for travelers of all ages. The Big Island of Hawaii is home to the Kileaua Volcano, which is the world’s most active volcano, clouds surround the snow-covered summit of Mauna Kea, the tallest sea mountain on Earth and the coast is sprinkled with world-class diving sites.

The island is home to numerous ancient Hawaiian temples, was the birthplace of King Kamehameha I and was the landing spot for the first European missionaries making the Big Island an important place to learn about Hawaiian history.

Kona Village Resort is the ideal resort to experience the essence of Hawaii. Born of one man’s dream to create the ambience of an old time Hawaiian village, the village stands alone as a unique and exclusive Hawaiian resort, blending the traditions of many Polynesian cultures. Originally a fishing village, the area was home to between 10,000 and 12,000 residents. In 1961, Johnno Jackson and his wife Helen arrived at what was left of the long abandoned village and began reconstruction.

Over the years, the village has evolved into the famous Hawaiian vacation resort that it is today offering guests a place of secluded beauty and peace in a hurried world.
