SAND This southern section of Kona Village resort has hale bungalows situated directly on or set back from the beach at Kahuwai Bay. From the Royal Category hale, guests are within steps of the legendary Waters of Kane, a freshwater spring just beneath the ocean’s surface. Endangered green sea turtles bask on the shoreline each afternoon in this distinctly “Sand” area of Kona Village Resort, which includes every hale category except Vintage Village. A particularly family-friendly area of the resort, there are various sized hale bungalows that easily accommodate families.
LAVA In 1801, Mt. Hualalai erupted sending forth a river of lava that reduced the size of Kahuwai Bay by one-half. The resulting geological formation was dramatic black lava rock cliffs and inlets with amazing pure black sand beaches. With a variety of hale in the Royal, Deluxe and Superior categories, adults, couples and honeymooners in particular appreciate the ocean’s proximity, the stunning views, the ever-present ocean breezes and many hale in this area that have private Jacuzzi on the lanai (deck).
LAGOON Distinctly different from Sand and Lava, is the area of Kona Village Resort that surrounds the ancient Hawaiian fishponds. Lushly tropical, with hale bungalows that are ideal for families and many that are also preferred by honeymooners, the peaceful Lagoon area offers primarily Garden and Vintage Village category hale. Here, the alarm clocks are chirping birds each morning, signaling the beginning of another beautiful day at Kona Village.
